The Princess and the Pea Chapter Two

Here's chapter two!

Chapter 2
The two witches on the roof stood up. One of them was the notorious Dark Witch Helen Crosby, who was known for tying up innocent people who walked through the forest and leaving them there to rot with her spells. She was tall, slender, and she had piercing indigo eyes and black lips. Her blue hair shined brightly in the morning sun. Beside her was her daughter Linda, slightly shorter but looking almost exactly like her mother. Her dream was to become queen of Daffodil Acres and make Dark Witches rule. Linda smiled. “Yes, mother?”
Helen Crosby threw her head black and cackled. “Linda, you know how the Queen is searching for a princess for her dear son?”
Linda nonchalantly cocked her head. “Yes, and what do you suppose we do about that, mother?”
Helen’s voice got sharper. “You are going to disguise yourself with the magic I taught you and impersonate a princess.”
Linda’s eyes widened. “A princess? But my spells don’t last longer than eight hours. And besides, what good would that do us?”
“You stupid girl. You are going to do Queen Lily’s little test. I’m sure that if you do exactly as I say, dear, you will be Daffodil Acre’s new queen.”
“Me, the queen?” Linda smiled. She liked the idea.
So the two witches made their plans on the roof unnoticed by anyone.

In the evening, the doorbell of the castle rang. Queen Lily went to answer it. She opened the door to a girl with straight black hair that went down to her shoulders and grey eyes. She was wearing a simple yellow dress. “Welcome!” Queen Lily said. “You are Princess Lila of Robin Grove, right?”
The girl nodded.
“Very well. Tell your parents we are very thankful. It was very kind of them to make arrangements for you to meet Prince Samson.” Prince Samson was also there, but he remained a safe distance away from the princess. There was something sinister about the girl that he didn’t feel comfortable about.
“Yes, I will.” Lila nodded her head.
In truth, Lila was Linda in disguise. Linda and Helen had brought the real Princess Lila to the forest and chained her to a tree on her way to the castle.
“It is getting late. May I show you to your room?” Queen Lily led Linda to the same room Marilynn had stayed in the day before. Linda smiled. Everything was going exactly as planned.
Halfway through the night, Linda redid her disguise spell to make it last longer.
The next morning, Queen Lily asked Linda how well she slept. “So dear, how was your night?”
Linda knew exactly what to say. “I’m sorry, queen, but I did not sleep well at all last night. There was something poking me in the back the whole night, and it bothered me so much I couldn’t feel tired at all.”
Queen Lily felt so relieved. Finally a real princess came along. She could wait no longer. “Princess Lila?” She asked.
“Yes, your majesty?”
“How would you like to marry Prince Samson?”
