Princess and the Pea Chapter 24

Chapter 24:
Marilynn and Samson ran as fast as they could. They dashed through the exit, down the halls, past the gardens, and approached the main gate.
“We’re here…” Marilynn gasped. “Quick, open the gate before anyone sees us.”
“Alright,” Samson huffed. He was also pretty tired. “Here, I’ll do it.” He pushed at the gate, and slowly began to open it.
But then it creaked. A loud, painful creak sounded. “No,” Samson whispered, alarmed. “Don’t creak…”
It was too late. Guards came rushing towards them, spears in hands and helmets on heads. “Run!!” Marilynn yelled, grabbing Samson and pulling him out the door.
They made it. They continued running, hoping the guards wouldn’t come after them.
After a while, the two realized that they were alone. “No guards following us…” Marilynn breathed.
“Yes…” Samson sighed and stopped running.
“We’re not safe yet!” Marilynn spoke up. “And besides, we haven’t even completed our task.”
“But, with all these guards and witches, how are we going to complete it? Face it, Princess Marilynn. I don’t think it’s possible.”
“Everything is possible, Prince Samson,” Marilynn retorted. “I bet Mother and Father are already finished with what they’re doing and waiting for us at our meeting spot.”
“No, my dear friend…They are not.” A sinister voice spoke up. A dark figure landed in front of Marilynn and Samson. She was very recognizable.
“Helen Crosby,” Marilynn whispered.
Helen put her hands on her hips. “Princess Marilynn, your parents are with me. Prince Samson, yours are too. Do not worry, youngsters, they are perfectly safe. I just don’t want them to ruin everything.”
“You don’t want them to ruin what?” Prince Samson stated. “What have they done to you? Let them go.”
“Oh, it will be quite a surprise, dear,” Helen chuckled. “But you two, sadly, are also jeopardizing it.” She held out a pea. “Why not join your parents? They will be very happy to know that you are safe.”
“The pea…” Marilynn was confused. But there was no time for that. Marilynn felt herself and Samson getting smaller and closer to the pea.
Then, with a ‘whoosh’, they disappeared.

-Vociferously yours, Vicky.
