Princess and the Pea Chapter 39

Yeah, I'm starting this again. Enjoy~

Chapter 39:
Fiona’s face hardened, and then she had no expression. “So?” She heaved. “That was the past. Now we must live in the present.” She walked in the other direction. “I need to go get some cedar wood. I know some spells we can use that will come greatly in handy.”
She walked off, leaving the group staring at each other strangely. “Does she really not care?” Marilynn said.
“Give her some time, Princess,” Neleh said, smiling weakly. “She needs to think things through.”
“What kind of person was her mother Anoia, Neleh?” King William asked.
“Oh, she was phenomenal. A bit careless, perhaps, but she was one of the kindest, most humane witches in our coven. She had great skills with magic, but her main purpose in life was to help others. She opened a witch hospital that time, but sadly, Helen destroyed everything.”
“That’s really sad,” Samson whispered. “Where is she now?”
“She died,” Neleh said. “She died of a terrible illness. I pray that she is in a better world right now.”
Fiona did find some cedar, and she silently and thoughtlessly cut the trees down. She took the bark and peeled it off the trunk. She took her knife and cut the bark into small pieces. She then took her staff and muttered an incantation.
Slowly, the cedar pieces turned violet. “Poison cedar,” she chuckled. “I’d like to see this burn off Linda’s hair. She’d freak out.”
There was a rustling in the leaves, and Fiona immediately was cautious. What was it, she did not know. But she did know that there was something alive around her.
“Caught ya,” a voice murmured from behind her. A hand shot out and knocked Fiona unconscious. The owner of the voice took off its hood, and revealed an angry, spiteful face covered with bright blue hair.
“Nice to know you’re alive, cousin,” Linda smirked. “But your traitor days are over.”

-Vociferously yours, Vicky.
